Sunday we found ourselves cruising offshore at 40 mph so I decided to bypass the wahoo and go long and get on some tuna. Upon arrival at our floating oil rig, the fishfinder was lit up with fish. It looked like it was going to be an easy day. We immediately put out a chum line and got one yellowfin at the end of the drift. Made another drift and got another one and missed one, but the action was slower than I was hoping for so we decided to try to catch some live bait. Pulled up tight to the rig and dropped a couple sabiki rigs, but the live bait that has hung around for so long this year is finally gone. Oh well back to chunking. We made a few more drifts catching 2 more yellows and missing a couple more. With 4 yellowfin in the box we decided to head north and get on that great bottom fishing bite we found the day before. Well it wasn’t as great today, but we still managed to catch 3 amberjacks and a couple grouper. After this, we pulled a few more rigs for wahoo and got one good one on a pink Bomber.
